The use of artificial intelligence (AI) in creating assets in Call of Duty: Black Ops 7 has attracted the attention of the United States Congress. Ro Khanna, Congressman, publicly reacted to the use of AI in the new title by Activision and made a appeal to the government for the creation of laws to protect human workers.

The politician's critique was made on social network X: “We need regulations to prevent companies from using AI to eliminate jobs to extract more profits. The artists in these companies need to have a say in how AI is used. They should receive a share of the profits. And there should be a tax on mass displacements,” commented Khanna.

The controversy began after the gaming community criticized the apparent use of AI to generate the majority of images in the menus and trophies of Black Ops 7. Activision responded to the criticism with a statement that confirms the use of the technology: “like many others around the world, we use a variety of digital tools, including AI tools, to empower and support our teams to create the best possible gaming experiences for our players.”

Activision sought to ensure that, while using AI, the process continues to be “led by the talented individuals in our studios.”
