Black Ops 6 releases multiplayer and Zombies for free until April 11 - but only for a limited time

If you were waiting for a good excuse to return (or try) the chaos of Call of Duty: Black Ops 6, Activision has just delivered a gift - even if temporary. From April 7th to 11th, the game has its multiplayer and Zombies modes completely unlocked in a free trial. And the best part: with double XP throughout the period. That's right — five intense days to level up, unlock items, and of course, kill zombies in style.

The free access strategically coincides with the Season 3 release, which arrived this week bringing new content and overall game balance adjustments. This is a clear move from Activision to rekindle the player base, especially after a lukewarm reception since the official release of Black Ops 6 — originally launched in October 2024, with mixed reviews regarding formula innovation.

Content released in the free trial: everything you can play

During the promotional period, players will have full access to:

Multiplayer:

More than 25 maps, including:

Firing Range

Shattered Veil (new)

Hijacked

Nuketown 2025

Summit

Over 10 game modes, including:

Gun Game

Hardpoint

Kill Confirmed

Domination

Team Deathmatch

Zombies:

5 maps available:

Liberty Falls

Terminus

The Tomb

Citadelle des Morts

Shattered Veil

And yes, double XP is active in all available modes — including weapons and battle pass.

Why does this matter (besides being fun)?

This is a rare opportunity for players outside the active Call of Duty community to test the game without commitment — and considering the prices of the franchise's main titles (often in the range of R$ 299 to R$ 349, depending on the edition), it's worth diving in while it costs nothing.

The presence of new maps like Shattered Veil, which mixes urban and supernatural elements, shows that Treyarch is trying to think outside the box, at least in terms of design. The classic Firing Range, reimagined for this new generation, hits the nostalgia right on the spot — and this could be a hint at the return of more iconic maps in the upcoming seasons.

But of course, not everything is perfect headshots. Black Ops 6 still faces criticism regarding weapon progression, occasional matchmaking issues, and a monetization system that borders on excessive, with cosmetic bundles exceeding R$ 100. However, this type of free trial could be a way for Activision to win back players unhappy with more aggressive monetization decisions and controversial updates, like the controversial nerf of the Striker 9 at the beginning of Season 2.

Enjoy it before it's over

If you're unsure whether it's worth installing the almost 100 GB required by Black Ops 6, here's the direct answer: if you like frenetic action, well-designed maps, and a Zombies mode with mysterious lore and fun cooperative battles, this is the time. It's free. It's temporary. And it has double XP.

The free access is available on all platforms: PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, and PC (via Battle.net and Steam). After April 11th, the modes will return to being exclusive to those who purchased the full game.

Stay tuned, because if engagement is high, Activision may repeat the dose — as they did with Modern Warfare II in 2023, which had free trial sessions on three occasions before the arrival of expansions.

So, if you haven't taken the first shot yet, this is your chance. And if you have — well, enjoy the double XP and go get that legendary battle pass skin before the curtain closes.
