Turning an office accessory into a practical item inspired by the art of collectible models adds a fresh touch of innovation from the manufacturer, bringing a bit of fun to formal meetings or industry events. Bandai Spirits has introduced the Automatic Transformation Card Case, a business card case equipped with an automated opening mechanism that mimics the transformation of a giant robot while offering your business information.

The product is the first release in the Mobile Stationery line for the Japanese market, priced at 3,300 yen (approximately R$ 107 in direct conversion) and expected to be on store shelves in October 2026.

According to details provided by Hypebeast, the concept extends beyond a typical case: by pressing a side button with the device pointed at the recipient, the system unlocks the outer latches, moves the central tray forward, and rotates the card 180 degrees, displaying the printed information directly to the receiver.

The collection was named 機動文具 (Kidō Bungu) in Japanese, using the same writing for "kidō" as in the well-known Mobile Suit Gundam series, creating a direct pun with the vehicles in the series.

While it currently does not hold an official anime licensing, Bandai Spirits integrated their expertise in articulation and latch engineering from the renowned Chogokin line into the ABS plastic construction of the accessory.

Measuring 125 mm in width, 95 mm in height, and 25 mm in thickness, the piece is designed to be stowed in the inside pocket of a suit without negating comfort. The compartment focuses on Japanese business card dimensions, requiring slight adjustments for Brazilian-style cards.

The manufacturer offers three finish options with the same internal system:

Toy Color — a mix of red, blue, and yellow with eye-catching panels emphasizing the playful aspect of the piece.

Standard Color — combines light gray and blue, maintaining a subdued office look until activated.

Black Color — features a black finish with gray details, being the most understated choice among them.

The new item secured the Excellence Award in the Variety category at the Japan Toy Award 2026 even before its commercial debut, with its first public showcase conducted at the Tokyo Toy Show 2026 through the brand's collectibles division.

Pre-ordering began on August 27, 2026, via the Tamashii Web portal and within local retail networks such as Amazon.jp, AmiAmi, Yodobashi, and Bic Camera.

Since official distribution is confined to Japan with no plans for direct shipping to Latin America, enthusiasts hoping to use this feature at events like CCXP will need to rely on import services that involve customs fees or private shipping.

Employing toy engineering expertise to craft an attention-grabbing functional item for corporate gatherings demonstrates Bandai Spirits' ability to innovate beyond their traditional collectible niche. Conversely, limiting sales to Japan forces international fans to face high shipping and import tax costs, underscoring how the company continues to sideline the international market for smaller creative releases.
