The logistics security of Nintendo of America suffered a serious incident: approximately 3 thousand units of the Nintendo Switch 2 were stolen from a distribution center in the United States. The case occurred at the end of May 2025, but only became public now, after a report by the Kotaku portal.

The theft took place in a warehouse of TForce Freight, a transportation company responsible for part of Nintendo's logistics in the country. Internal sources indicated that the criminals had direct access to the truck parked inside the warehouse, from where they removed the units already packaged for distribution. It is estimated that the total value of the stolen goods exceeds $1.5 million, considering the average price of $499 per console.

When contacted, Nintendo stated that it is cooperating with local and federal authorities in the investigations. So far, no arrests have been made and the consoles have not yet been recovered. A company spokesperson said:

“We are aware of the situation and actively working with our logistics partners and authorities to resolve the case.”

The situation raises additional concerns about the security of the distribution chain, especially considering the projected demand for the Nintendo Switch 2, whose official release in the US is scheduled for September 2025. The company had already registered high demand in pre-orders, with units sold out in several digital and physical stores.

This incident also reignites discussions about security in the gaming industry. Previous cases, such as the theft of PlayStation 5 units in warehouses in the United Kingdom in 2020, showed that next-generation equipment continue to be targets of specialized criminal groups.

Nintendo has not yet informed whether the incident will impact the delivery schedule of pre-orders. Logistics industry experts point out that, even with restocking, it is likely that some shipments will experience delays.
