Amplitude Studios separates from SEGA and returns to independence
AMPLITUDE Studios, famous for developing the ENDLESS series and HUMANKIND, is now following its own path. The studio was acquired by members of the internal team, no longer being part of the conglomerate SEGA.
After eight years of collaboration, the transition to independence was an important step for the studio, which now has full control over its future and its franchises. The decision was celebrated by Romain de Waubert de Genlis, founder of Amplitude Studios, who emphasized the importance of his team and the opportunities that arise when moving away from a large group. "Our experience in strategy game development and the two promising titles we are creating give us confidence to offer exceptional experiences to players," Genlis stated.
With the separation, Amplitude Studios returns to its roots as an independent studio, focusing on creativity, innovation, and closer collaboration with its community. This change, according to the studio, will allow for more agile and focused work on the vision it has always had, as well as strengthen the relationship with fans and players.
SEGA, on the other hand, moves forward, and although it has been a valuable partner, the sale of Amplitude Studios marks the end of an era. Both companies parted ways amicably, with Amplitude expressing gratitude for the years of collaboration and joint learning.
"It has been an incredible journey, we have learned a lot and made great friends. Now, we move on, and we will always be cheering for them," said the new owners of the studio, who now have the freedom to explore the future with greater flexibility.
Amplitude Studios is ready to continue its journey independently, with great ambitions for the upcoming titles and the support of a team committed to developing exceptional games.
