A game that has been in development since 2012 is about to be released: Squadron 42!
Since I can remember myself as a "gamer", I have seen several games being released with a huge budget, with the most successful ones being games from Rockstar Games. This time we have another game with a huge budget that has been in development since 2012 and will only be released after next year, in 2026!
Squadron 42 comes as a derivative of Star Citizen, being a single-player campaign that will have a budget of US$730 million, which could be a big step for the franchise!
During the annual convention CitizenCon, the developers of Cloud Imperium Games Corporation (CIG) announced that Squadron 42 will be released in 2026, not only was the release window announced, but we also had an hour of gameplay, showing not only its tutorial, but also many scenes and the first one, has none other than Henry Cavill, who introduces our character.
Squadron 42 and Star Citizen are two distinct games, although they share the same universe and are developed by the same teams. Originally in 2012, Squadron 42 was part of the crowdfunding campaign for Star Citizen. Given the success of this campaign that far exceeded the initially desired US$500,000, it was then separated to become an independent game. The two titles have many similarities, but also differences.
Now we are here to learn more about the game, which should attract a lot of attention, possibly even bursting the bubble of Star Citizen bringing more fans to the game!
