Console released in 2023 will continue to receive titles from third-party studios
The head of Xbox Game Studios, Matt Booty, revealed in an interview with Axios that Microsoft's studios will no longer develop games for Xbox One. He emphasized that the console will continue to receive support for already released games.
Matt Booty says that Microsoft will focus entirely on Xbox Series X|S, the company's current consoles.
Despite the disappointing news for Xbox One owners, it will still be possible to enjoy games from Microsoft's studios, as stated by Matt Booty. The console will be able to play the new titles through the Xbox Cloud, which currently allows access to games available only for the new generation.
The decision was likely made to facilitate the development of games from these studios, as they won't have to worry about optimizing a game to run on hardware inferior to the new generation. Now, it is expected that the Xbox Series X|S will have its capacity better utilized.
Third-party games will continue to be released for Xbox One, unless developers decide to focus on the new generation. But titles like Assassin's Creed Mirage and Exoprimal are on their way to the console, in addition to recent releases like Dead Island 2 and Diablo IV.

We can take as examples the announcements made during the Xbox Games Showcase 2023, where Microsoft's exclusive games were already focused solely on Xbox Series X|S. In this list, we have Avowed, Fable, Forza Motorsport, Hellblade II, Starfield, and others."No internal teams are working on games for older consoles, except to support ongoing games, such as Minecraft," Booty states.
"This transition was expected, but it happened later in this cycle, as Microsoft and its competitor Sony extended support for their older devices and the over 100 million people who own them."
