Three new games arrive in the PlayStation Plus catalog in July
For those who enjoy a good nostalgic adventure that harkens back to the 90s, the addition of CrossCode to the catalog is an excellent move by the distributor. This action RPG draws directly from the classics of the 16-bit era, weaving together open exploration mechanics with complex puzzles and a very fast-paced combat system. The plot follows the journey of Lea, a young avatar without memories who navigates a setting simulating a futuristic MMORPG. The production's great merit is its ability to construct an intelligent and sensitive narrative that questions concepts of artificial intelligence and identity within virtual relationships, delivering an artistic depth rarely seen in large-scale generic commercial productions.
The official announcement of the titles was made directly through the channels of the PlayStation Blog, defining the redemption period between July 7 and August 3, 2026. The list of new additions to the brand's subscription plans includes the following options:
Call of Duty: Modern Warfare III (PS5, PS4)
For the King II (PS5, PS4)
CrossCode (PS5, PS4)
Another new addition to the list aims to capture the interest of tabletop tactics enthusiasts. The game For the King II offers a turn-based strategy RPG structure supported by roguelike elements. The adventure takes place in the lands of the kingdom of Fahrul, where the player leads a group of rebels with the mission to overthrow the tyrannical government led by Queen Rosomon. The risk of betting big on this format is that exploration occurs on a procedurally generated map, making progress overly reliant on random events and virtual dice luck. This dependence on algorithms to dictate difficulty can turn resource management and character progression into a frustrating and unfair experience in longer campaigns.
The main commercial attraction of the package, however, lies with the first-person shooter game Call of Duty: Modern Warfare III. This installment continues directly from the events of task force 141, throwing the player into global battles against the forces of the ultranationalist villain Vladimir Makarov. The multiplayer aspect revives nostalgia by bringing back 16 classic maps that defined an era in the original Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2, rebuilt from the ground up with current graphic technologies. It is undeniable that having a cornerstone of the shooter genre in a subscription service is valuable, but the title falters by excessively recycling past content to mask the lack of real innovation in the franchise's gameplay.
It's worth reminding the community not to miss adding the June games to their personal library before the server rotation occurs next week.
