Super Monkey Ball fans have had a bit of a rough time lately. In 2019, we saw the release of Super Monkey Ball: Banana Blitz HD, a remaster of what is widely considered to be the weakest entry in the franchise. Not long after, the publisher appeared to be gauging interest in the future of the series with a Twitter poll. It's all been rather quiet since that flutter of activity, but it appears we may know the name of the next monkey-rolling adventure.

Super Monkey Ball: Banana Mania could well be the title of a new game in the series. Discovered by Gematsu, the game was listed on the Australian Classification Board's website, with the rating approved on 15th April. Interestingly enough, if you try to visit the game's page now, you'll see it's been removed. Curiouser and curiouser.

We've looked and haven't been able to find mention of the game on any other age rating sites. Usually, listings like these are pretty reliable; games aren't just rated for no reason, of course. We imagine it's only a matter of time before Banana Mania is officially announced, but we'll have to wait and see.

As to what the game itself is, many are suggesting it may be somewhat similar to Sonic Mania — in other words, a game that goes back to the roots, refreshing levels and puzzles from the earlier entries and incorporating some new ones. It's all pure speculation at this point, but it seems likely to us. With E3 resurfacing for a digital event in June, perhaps SEGA will use that opportunity to announce the game? Watch this space, we suppose.
