Sony has introduced a set of new features for the PS5, including support for Dolby Atmos, the ability to turn off the console's startup sound, support for up to 8 TB of SSD storage, and more.

These features were already available to beta testers, but the update is now widely available. The big surprise in the update is support for PS Remote Play on the latest Google Chromecast.

Up until now, the PS Remote Play app was only available for iOS and Android mobile devices. However, Sony has expanded its support to TV streaming devices, including the popular Chromecast 4K with a dedicated remote control.

Owners of the Chromecast 4K will soon be able to download the app through the Google Play Store. In addition, PS Remote Play is also rolling out to the Sony Bravia XR A95L TV and offers support for pairing a DualSense controller via Bluetooth.

While Sony has announced that it is targeting the release for all Android TV OS 12 devices, only the Chromecast 4K and Sony Bravia XR A95L have been "verified" so far. It's possible that if the expansion is successful, the app may be made available on more platforms, such as Apple TV, Amazon's Fire TV devices, and possibly Roku.

PS Remote Play allows gamers to stream their games over Wi-Fi to other screens in their home, eliminating the need for disputes over the TV connected to the console.

Now, with Chromecast support, players can enjoy their games on a big screen, making the experience similar to that of a console. This expansion of support comes ahead of the release of the Sony PlayStation Portal, the company's portable streaming device, scheduled for November.
