Take your digital heart.

A new trailer for the eagerly-anticipated JRPG Soul Hackers 2 has been released, this time focusing on the allies that will join you on your mission to avert the apocalypse. Soul Hackers 2 is coming to PS5 and PS4 on 25th August.

You play as Ringo, a digital construct of the sentient supercomputer known as Aion. You will be joined by Arrow, an agent of the Yatagarasu organisation, Milady, a mysterious member of the Phantom Society, and Saizo, a freelance summoner who follows his own path.

We also get a look at the intruiging Soul Matrix system in action. Ringo is affected by the emotional states of her companions, and by utilising the Soul Matrix (which appears to be a sprawling dungeon in the vein of Persona 5's Mementos), she can address her companions' regrets and lingering trauma.

In addition, raising each character's Soul Level (achieved by delving into the Soul Matrix, or hanging out with them at Bar Hydra) will unlock additional functionality in combat. So the entire mechanic seems like a streamlined take on Persona's social links, mixed with some Mementos-esque dungeon delving, and we can't wait to get dive in ourselves.

In the meantime, you can always check out this extended gameplay trailer for Soul Hackers 2. In other Atlus news, we just got our first look at the PS5 version of Persona 5: Royal in action.

Will you be picking up Soul Hackers 2?
