Sony under cyberattack by Ransomed Group with data sale threat

Tech giant Sony is currently under siege from a cyberattack orchestrated by the newly emerged group known as Ransomed. The group managed to infiltrate Sony Group Corporation and announced their invasion through a dark document detailing the obtained files, a release date, and their demands.

This attack originating from the Dark Web was identified by Cyber Security Connect and has become a significant cause for concern. The mysterious document begins by sharing Ransomed's mission before delving into the details of the attack on Sony. With a release date set for "29.9.2023" (September 29, 2023), a whopping $88 billion is at stake.

In case Sony doesn't meet the demands, the hackers claim to have "successfully compromised all of Sony's systems" and have no intention to release them upon ransom. Instead, they plan to sell the data, making it clear that:

"We have successfully compromised all of Sony's systems," the group stated. "We will not ransom them! We will sell the data because Sony does not want to pay. THE DATA IS FOR SALE. WE ARE SELLING."

The group also posted a file teasing the entire leak which seems to have fewer than 6,000 files, which might be small for "all of Sony's systems." The group listed a "posting date." If nobody buys the data by that time, the group will release the data in bulk.

As of now, Sony has not issued any statement on the matter. Ransomed, an entity created in September 2023, has already caught digital media's attention due to its notorious presence as a ransomware-as-a-service (RaaS) model, connecting affiliates with diverse motivations.

For users with accounts on Sony who are concerned about this new cyberattack, it's crucial to take all necessary precautions to protect their data before the release date on September 29, 2023.
