Sega Scream from the 90s returns in commercial for fan nostalgia

In the 1990s, the video game industry witnessed an intense battle between SEGA and Nintendo in the United States, and one of the most memorable elements of that era was the famous Sega Scream.

This iconic shout played a pivotal role in SEGA's marketing strategy, highlighting its bold and rebellious attitude in contrast to Nintendo's more "family-friendly" approach.

SEGA's TV commercials during that time always concluded with the unmistakable Sega Scream, created by Jimbo Matison, the director of the advertising agency Colossal Pictures. This shout became a prominent presence throughout most of the 90s, contributing to shaping SEGA's image as a radical brand aimed at a more mature audience.

While the Sega Scream lost its prominence over time, SEGA recently decided to bring it back in a commercial for the game Sonic Superstars. This initiative aims to rekindle fan nostalgia and celebrate the legacy and bold spirit that made SEGA an unforgettable part of video game history.
