Through a press release, SEGA announced that it intends to acquire the company Rovio, responsible for the Angry Birds franchise, well known for mobile games, but which has reached such great popularity that the birds and pigs in the game's history have already gone in cinemas and are articles and ornaments in different homes, very dear to children.

The fact is that SEGA wants to increase its scope of games as a service, and has started a friendly agreement with Rovio, revolving around € 706 million. It is expected that the deal will be completed in mid-September, if there is no denial from any party involved, as is the case with Microsoft and Activision.

“I feel blessed to be able to announce such a transaction with Rovio, a company that owns Angry Birds, which is loved around the world and home to many skilled employees who support mobile game development,” comments Haruki Satomi, chairman and CEO of Sega Sammy Holdings.

It is also not difficult to imagine that both Sonic and the winged mascots are inserted in their respective games, making a special appearance. Even in movies, feature films and short films.

It is worth mentioning that according to the Wall Street Journal, the negotiation revolved around US$ 1 billion (about € 910 million).
