With over 25 million players already immersed in its thrilling pirate experience, the acclaimed pirate ship simulator Sea of Thieves is about to receive a series of exciting updates.

Developed by Rare, the multiplayer game will now open its doors to solo gameplay with a new mode called "Safer Seas", scheduled to be released in December.

This addition will allow players to explore the vast world of the game in private sessions, without the threat of PvP (player versus player).

Mike Chapman, Creative Director at Rare, shared the news in a post on the Xbox Wire blog, explaining that "Safer Seas" aims to provide a smooth introduction to the game for new players and create a peaceful environment for experienced players who want to pursue their adventures solo.

The 10th season update, dubbed the "Super Season", begins on October 18 and will bring three significant additions throughout the year's end:
  • Guilds: Players can now commit to a ship, allowing up to 24 players to share ships and cosmetics, even when they're not online, and share milestone progress together.
  • Competitive Missions: Players will compete to collect components of the "Siren's Song Skull," which will curse the ships they are aboard and broadcast the location of those players across the seas.
  • Safer Seas: This mode will allow you to play Sea of Thieves alone or with friends in non-competitive sessions, with reduced rewards due to lower danger, providing a calmer and more relaxing experience.
This new mode could be a valuable example for other live service games looking to offer similar options to their players. Get ready for more exciting adventures and a more accessible experience in Sea of Thieves in the coming months.
