Car soccer, but for phones and tablets

Rocket League is coming to mobile devices. Rocket League Sideswipe is a new version of the multiplayer game that’s heading to iOS and Android devices, developer Psyonix announced on Wednesday.

Sideswipe will feature all of Rocket League’s familiar car-soccer action, only a little smaller. The game will feature 1v1 or 2v2 matches that will only last around two minutes each. Sideswipe will also feature online multiplayer. Just like the original version of the game, Rocket League Sideswipe will be free to download and play.

While most of the game will be recognizable to anyone that’s played Rocket League on other platforms before, Psyonix is introducing a few changes to help make the game easier to play and control on mobile platforms. The game will feature slightly altered controls that have been optimized for mobile and a different camera perspective that should keep your car easy to track even on small screens.

Psyonix doesn’t have an official release date for Rocket League Sideswipe just yet, but the developer says it hope to release the game worldwide later this year. The developer also plans to release betas and tests for the game in the near future. These tests will be broken up by region, and players in Australia and New Zealand will get their first chance to test the game starting on Wednesday.
