Resident Evil Village Ships Over Five Million Units

Capcom has issued another sales update for the excellent Resident Evil Village as part of an earnings call, sharing that the horror title has now shipped more than five million copies worldwide. It's the latest statistic after the Japanese publisher announced it had already shipped three million units just days after release, meaning a further two million copies have been bought in the five months since.

A press release was issued to share the news, which noted that Resident Evil 7: Biohazard is currently sitting at double the number of units shipped — "over 10 million" to be precise. However, Resident Evil Village is currently selling at a faster rate so the game may yet outrank Ethan Winters' original trip to Louisiana at some point in the future.

Don't forget there's more to come from Resident Evil Village as Capcom has confirmed a piece of DLC is currently in development for the title, and then there's the oft-forgotten Resident Evil Re:Verse multiplayer offering that was supposed to be packaged in with Village for free. Whether that's still the case or Capcom simply opts for a free-to-play release for everyone remains to be seen. Either way, it's now slated to come out next year for PlayStation 4.
