Resident Evil Village Receiving Free DLC, Says Capcom

Marketing spiel reveals.

Resident Evil Village will be treated to some DLC at some point in the future, but that's quite literally all we know about it. Capcom made the announcement during its best forgotten E3 2021 digital showcase with a single image, suggesting the expansion is still in the early stages of development. However, a new report out of the publisher detailing the firm's strategies indicates some of the DLC in question may actually be free.

Buried in amongst marketing spiel is the following sentence: "Further, we will drive our customer management to understand the playing trends and preferences of users while also building a business model for online operations, taking into account the situation of our free additional DLC for titles such as Monster Hunter Rise and Resident Evil Village."

What's important to note here is the game is listed alongside Nintendo Switch exclusive Monster Hunter Rise, which has already shown off a future expansion that is very much paid for, described as a "massive paid expansion pack". Therefore, it stands to reason Capcom is probably referring to smaller bits of content when it says Resident Evil Village will be treated to free DLC. More difficulty levels, new weapons, or something of the sort. At least that means there'll be something new for everyone when the paid expansion comes along, presumably next year.

In other news, the base game has now shipped over five million copies. What sort of bonus content would you like for Resident Evil Village?
