Since the game’s original release on GameCube, Capcom has ported Resident Evil 4 to virtually every platform possible. Now the groundbreaking survival horror game is coming to a new device: Facebook’s Oculus Quest 2 virtual reality headset.

Capcom and Facebook announced Resident Evil 4 for VR Thursday during the Resident Evil Showcase. The Oculus Quest 2 port will shift the game from its normal third-person view to first-person; players will only see Leon S. Kennedy’s hands as he shoots, slashes, and types his way through Resident Evil 4 VR. Mike Verdu, VP of content at Facebook Reality Labs, called the virtual reality version of RE4 “immersive […] and will bring new richness and depth to the Resident Evil experience you know and love.”

Capcom, Oculus Studios, and Armature Studio are co-developing the Oculus Quest 2 version of Resident Evil 4. Verdu promised more details on Resident Evil 4 VR at Facebook’s Oculus Gaming Showcase on Wednesday, April 21.

Resident Evil 4 was first released in 2005. Initially a GameCube exclusive, RE4 later came to Android, iOS, Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 2, PlayStation 3, PlayStation 4, Wii, Windows PC, Xbox 360, and Xbox One. Capcom previously experimented with VR in 2017’s Resident Evil 7 biohazard.

Oculus Quest 2, an all-in-one VR headset that doesn’t require a separate PC or mobile device, was released in September 2020. The Quest 2 starts at $299 for the 64 GB model, with a 256 GB model available for $399.
