Ray Tracing Removed from F1 2021 While Codemasters Tinkers with Technical Troubles
The latest patch for F1 2021 has removed ray tracing from the PlayStation 5 version of the game. Codemasters' latest Formula One racer is a great title that generally looks the part, but it sounds as though ray tracing has been causing more harm than good on Sony's console.
Writing on its website, Codies states it's "aware of some instability" relating to the advanced lighting technique, and made the decision to remove the feature temporarily in order to give players a smoother experience. During review, we were having some technical hiccups during certain scenes, which may well have been related to this.
"We aim to re-enable this as quickly as possible, and we will provide an update in due course," Codemasters says. So, ray tracing will return to F1 2021 on PS5 as soon as the team can make it work without causing problems.
