Pokemon GO Announces Verizon Partnership and Special Event
Pokemon GO has teamed up with Verizon for sponsored Stops, Gyms, Gifts and an event, which kicks off on November 7.
Pokemon GO is no stranger to in-game partnerships. Recently the AR hit teamed up with French fashion brand Longchamp to release a range of in-game cosmetics. Over the years, the game has also had partnerships with both Starbucks and US telecoms company Sprint.
Not stopping there though, developers Niantic have just announced their latest partnership. The deal is with another telecoms giant, Verizon and will “provide exclusive benefits to Pokémon GO players in the United States!” The deal between the two will bring plenty of benefits to US Pokemon GO players, including sponsored PokéStops, Sponsored Gyms, and Sponsored Gifts.
Trainers, we’re thrilled to announce that we’re partnering with @Verizon in the United States!

Arguably, the biggest win from all of this, for Verizon customers at least, is the Special Weekend event. Starting now, Verizon customers will be able to register for tickets to this special event. The tickets will grant players access to some exclusive Timed Research as well as having special Pokemon attracted to incense.
The Special Research will give players the opportunity to earn plenty of items. These include XP, Stardust, three Incense, a Star Piece, and 100 Charizard Mega Energy. It will also grant players encounters with some rare Pokemon including Chansey, Absol and Gible. Alongside the research, incense will also attract rare Pokemon including both Unown V and Z.
Tickets to the event can be claimed through the Verizon Up rewards app with your Verizon ID or mobile number. Players can redeem the tickets up until the time the event starts, on November 7 at 11 am PST.
That’s not all, Verizon users will be able to unlock an array of Verizon related avatar items in-game now. All players will also be able to receive sponsored Verizon gifts when spinning select PokéStops for the first time each day. These gifts will include “in-game items and a special message from Verizon.”
