Live service longevity.
It all gets underway with three new heroes – Sojourn, Junker Queen, and a yet to be announced Support Hero – across six maps, including Toronto, New York, Rome, Monte Carlo, Portugal, and Rio. There’ll also be over 30 extra skins, and a brand new Mythic Skin. Then, from 6th December, the second season arrives – with an additional map, Tank Hero, even more cosmetics, and a Battle Pass.
This will continue through 2023 and beyond. “With the new Battle Pass system, you’ll be able to unlock themed cosmetic items and complete weekly challenges for unique rewards,” Blizzard marketing bigwig Madeline Demas wrote on the PS Blog. “Instead of relying on Loot Box luck, you’ll be able to choose how you want to invest and progress toward new content throughout each season.”
In addition to the exciting content flow, Blizzard is also reworking how competitive play will function. So, your performance will be assessed every seven wins, and you’ll be attributed sub tiers to your rank – presumably to help tighten up matchmaking.
