The Nintendo achieved a legal victory in its lawsuit against streamer Jesse Keighin, who was broadcasting gameplay from pirated copies of Nintendo Switch games before the official release dates. The court decision is a positive point that reinforces the protection of Intellectual Property (IP) in the gaming industry.

The company sued Keighin, known as “Every Game Guru” on various platforms, accusing him of broadcasting gameplay from pirated games more than 50 times since 2022. The Nintendo also criticized the behavior of the accused, who allegedly mocked the company by stating in a letter that he could use hundreds of alternative channels to continue the broadcasts.

Jesse Keighin tried to avoid being served with the legal papers, forcing Nintendo to seek alternative means to inform him. As he did not respond, the court decided to proceed with the case and ruled that the streamer must pay over $17,000 in damages to Nintendo.

However, the judge did not agree with all of Nintendo's requests. The company requested the destruction of all devices used in the illegal activity and the involvement of partners who worked with Keighin in the decision. The court denied these requests as Nintendo failed to specify the names of the partners involved.
