Metal: Hellsinger Is a Headbanging PS5 Rhythm FPS for Metalheads
It’s probably not crazy to say that the vast majority of rhythm games focus on various forms of dance music, whether it’s straight-up pop or more niche electronic tunes. Metal, traditionally, is not something represented by the genre at least, which is where Metal: Hellsinger on the PlayStation 5 aims to set itself apart.
This is a DOOM-style first-person shooter, with a soundtrack built around the guttural roars of a number of headbangin’ household names. The full list of singers is as follows:
- Randy Blythe from Lamb of God
- James Dorton from Black Crown Initiate
- Matt Heafy from Trivium
- Dennis Lyxzén from Refused and INVSN
- Tatiana Shmailyuk from Jinjer
- Mikael Stanne from Dark Tranquillity
- Björn Strid from Soilwork
- Alissa White-Gluz from Arch Enemy
While the singers are familiar, the music is new, written specifically for the game by Elvira Björkman and Nicklas Hjertberg. The gameplay can perhaps be best compared to Bullets Per Minute, which has a similar gameplay loop where you need to attack in time to the music.
