Literally Face Off Against Opponents in Street Fighter 6 with Interactive Versus Screen

For as long as fighting games have been a thing, they've had the versus screen. A brief moment showing each combatant before the battle commences, these flashy interludes serve to get players amped up for a fight. In some games, this screen is fairly static, while others make something more of it. As it turns out, Street Fighter 6 falls in the latter camp.

Over on Twitter, Capcom has confirmed an interactive versus screen. With the two competitors facing each other, each player can change their character's facial expressions using the D-pad:

It's a small detail in the grand scheme of things — the screen's only up for a few seconds — but it's a great extra touch. We can see this being pretty amusing playing online, as fans will no doubt make the most of this feature to goof around or show off. It just affords the game a little extra personality.

The upcoming game isn't the first to have a feature similar to this, but clearly Capcom is putting everything into Street Fighter 6, presenting us with a premium fighter down to these smaller details. You've got to love it.
