Konami surprised fans of Silent Hill with several revelations during the January 2024 State of Play. In addition to providing a preview of the Silent Hill 2 remake, developed by Bloober Team, the company also announced a completely new entry in the franchise titled Silent Hill: The Short Message. This new game is now available to play for free exclusively on PlayStation 5.

Players take on the role of Anita, the protagonist, who finds herself trapped inside a dilapidated apartment building with a sinister history, while following messages left by her friend Maya. Maya's messages urge Anita not to leave until she discovers the truth.

In Silent Hill: The Short Message, players will explore this new first-person narrative as Anita seeks to unravel the mystery behind Maya and confront terrifying creatures. If you enjoy eerie atmospheres and sudden scares, The Short Message promises to offer an intense experience.

The first mention of The Short Message appeared in September 2022 when the game leaked through the South Korean ratings board. Additional information was revealed in November 2023 by the Australian Classification Board, describing the game as a "psychological horror exploration-based game, in which players control characters in an apartment building called The Villa in modern Germany."

The Short Message is part of a broader initiative to revitalize the Silent Hill franchise. Other projects include the ongoing interactive experiment "Silent Hill: Ascension" and the highly anticipated Silent Hill 2 remake by Bloober Team.

In addition, "Silent Hill f" was another title revealed in 2022, but so far Konami has not shared additional details about it. While "f" and the Silent Hill 2 remake are still in development, players can already immerse themselves in the chilling experience of Silent Hill: The Short Message by downloading it from the PlayStation Store.
