It Takes Two Movie Officially Underway at Amazon, and The Rock Is Involved Too
It Takes Two, the hit co-op action game from EA and Hazelight Studios, is being turned into a movie. That's according to a new report from Variety, which states that several production studios are now involved in the project.
Seven Bucks Productions, co-founded by Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson and Dany Garcia, is onboard, as is Amazon Studios and dj2 Entertainment — the latter of which is also involved with the Sonic the Hedgehog films. Speaking of Sonic, the writers on the SEGA movies will be lending their talents to this project too. Josef Fares, director of the game, is signed on to executive produce the adaptation, as is The Rock himself. He may also star in the film, although that's not official at this point.
We probably won't see the end result for a long while, but it could make for an entertaining big screen flick. The game sees divorcing parents Cody and May forced to work together through various fantastical settings, and we can already picture how some scenes will translate. We would argue, however, that the game's strengths are its co-op first design and ever-evolving gameplay — not its story or characters.
It's also worth noting that the overtly passionate Fares was a filmmaker before he turned his attention to games, so he'll presumably bring some of that know-how to the project too. It'll be an interesting one at any rate. Are you up for watching an It Takes Two movie?
