Blackbird Interactive and Gearbox Publishing have announced a delay for Homeworld 3, aiming to enhance the game and preserve the series' legacy. The release, originally scheduled for the fourth quarter of 2022, has been postponed to the first half of 2023.
The game has been in development since 2017, following the release of Homeworld: Deserts of Kharak, a prequel game produced by the same team. Homeworld 3 promises to bring a revolutionary implementation of cover mechanics, with weapons utilizing a new "real ballistic" system, providing simulation and tactical strategy to players.
The game's story will take players on a mission to uncover the origin of an "anomaly" threatening the galaxy, swallowing gates, outposts, and planets. Blackbird Interactive promises to share a major progress update later this summer, revealing the work done behind the scenes throughout these years of development.
