GTA 6 Out in 2025 with Fortnite-Like Evolving Map, Leaker Claims
Modern version of Vice City.
Grand Theft Auto 6. Almost eight years after the franchise's fifth mainline entry, we're still waiting on the follow-up. You can thank GTA Online for that in part, with developer Rockstar continuing to update and support the online behemoth through what is soon to be three console generations. That's a very impressive feat, but fans who love the satirical take on America in a single player form have been left waiting for almost a decade. And according to claims from one leaker, which have been picked up by GameSpot, GTA 6 is still many years away. It reportedly won't be out on PS5 until 2025.
The claim has been made by YouTuber Tom Henderson, who is known for leaking details surrounding the Call of Duty and Battlefield series. In his video on the topic, he speaks of information he has been handed via independent sources which, of course, won't be named to protect their identity. As well as saying GTA 6 will be out in 2025, Henderson claims the game will be set in a modern version of Vice City. This is due in part to the next iteration of GTA Online, which Rockstar reportedly wants to have content created for without any era-based restrictions.
As for the map, Fortnite is referenced in relation to an evolving map that could change in between seasons. The current version of GTA Online has added new locations and areas in the past, but this sounds like an even bigger push into that type of content refreshment. Multiple playable characters is also a possibility for GTA 6.
So, should we trust these claims? If the game really is another four years away, we wouldn't put too much stock in many of the reported features. Development can change on the fly, with mechanics dropped to push a game out faster. It's fairly easy to say GTA 6's online map will change throughout the course of its existence, because what multiplayer game doesn't do that at this point?
