God of War's PC Port Not Being Developed by Sony Santa Monica

God of War’s port to PC is not being developed in-house by Sony Santa Monica, and instead has been outsourced to Canadian team Jetpack Interactive. According to a statement sent to Ars Technica, the series creator will “oversee” the project. The platform holder roped in an external team to develop Horizon Zero Dawn’s computer-based conversion, but Days Gone was handled internally by original developer Sony Bend.

While not necessarily a household name, Jetpack Interactive has worked on a number of high-profile franchises, such as Dark Souls and Plants vs Zombies, so it certainly has the credentials to handle a project like this. Fascinatingly, VGC noted that one Jetpack Interactive employee lists God of War: Ragnarok as a current project, but it’s possible the team is also helping Sony Santa Monica with the sequel.

The Japanese giant is working to bring its portfolio of hits to a wider audience, and boss Jim Ryan has expressed his frustration at gating gamers from playing his company’s games. All of this means you should expect more ports and projects like PlayStation Productions moving forwards, as the Japanese giant looks to bring its biggest brands into more homes.
