Jean-Claude Van Damme is finally making his debut in the Mortal Kombat 1 franchise, three decades after the original game was released in 1992. This inclusion marks a complete reboot of the saga created by Ed Boon and John Tobias, bringing an entirely new narrative.
As revealed in an interview this week, Ed Boon had already confirmed Van Damme's "Yes" for this participation in Mortal Kombat 1.
And today, the highly anticipated trailer, released by NetherRealm Studios, with over two minutes in length, featuring a younger version of Van Damme, making references to his famous movies like "Bloodsport".
Furthermore, the actor himself is voicing the new lines for the fighter, as Van Damme is a skin for Johnny Cage.
In addition to Van Damme's addition, NetherRealm and Warner have announced the participation of other celebrities in the cast of the new game. Actress Megan Fox will provide the voice and appearance for the character Nitara, while other renowned actors such as John Cena, Antony Starr, and JK Simmons will participate as characters in future DLCs.
Players who opt for the regular edition will be able to purchase these contents later through the in-game store as they become available.
The game will be available on PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X|S starting on September 19, with the special characters being exclusive to Premium edition buyers.
