Short video has already sparked debate among gamers

Square Enix has shared another short snippet of Final Fantasy XVI gameplay showing a small area set in a forest.

The short video also features the wolf Torgal, who accompanies protagonist Clive on his journey. Clive's faithful companion will be important in both combat and exploration.

After the video was released, some people started commenting on the part where the protagonist has to cross a "narrow corridor" to access another area, for some, this breaks the pace of exploration and slows down the gameplay. Meanwhile, others say that this animation is already faster than in Final Fantasy VII Remake, which would already be a positive point.

"For centuries, humans have gathered near Crystal-Mater to receive their blessing: the abundant ether that fuels the magic they need every day. But the ether is starting to get scarcer, and the dead lands are advancing further. As this happens, conflicts over possession of the last glimmers of ether light become increasingly intense. Yet amidst the storm, there are those who believe that the legacy of crystals has defined the fate of humanity for far too long.

Clive Rosfield is on a mission to free humanity from its fate, and must use the eikonic powers at his disposal to overcome all obstacles imposed by his enemies."

Final Fantasy XVI will be released for PlayStation 5 on 22 June 2023.
