Destiny 2: The Witch Queen DLC Dated for 22nd February in New Trailer
Update: The Destiny 2 Showcase has now confirmed all of the details listed below along with revealing the trailer for The Witch Queen expansion. It is indeed releasing on PS5 and PS4 on 22nd February 2021, and pre-orders will be available on the PS Store shortly.
Original story: Bungie is scheduled to reveal the next big expansion heading to Destiny 2 later today, but a new PlayStation Store listing appears to have spoiled the party for the developer. As spotted by True Trophies, a product on the Australian PS Store lists The Witch Queen DLC as releasing on 22nd February 2022. We'll have to wait until later in the day for the official trailer, but the listing reveals the expansion will house a new location to explore and "the definitive Destiny campaign".
The description goes on to explain how Guardians will "delve into Savathûn’s Throne World to uncover the mystery of how she and her Lucent Hive stole the Light. Learn the secrets to crafting new weapons, the new Glaive, and survive the truth within her web of lies." The new location will feature areas such as the antagonist's palace as well as a swamp, but another addition will be a new weapon type.
"Master the new Glaive weapon type and unleash powerful melee combos, projectile attacks, and a deployable energy shield," the PS Store listing reads. The Destiny 2 Showcase, where all of this information and more will be revealed, is scheduled to take place later today at 9am PT / 12pm ET / 5pm BST. To whet your appetite until then, check out the teaser trailer Bungie recently posted.
