British production company Creative Assembly, responsible for the Alien Isolation games and the Total War series, has announced the opening of its third development studio in Newcastle, England. The initial mission of this new studio will be to help the company's headquarters in Sussex, England, in the development of a project not yet announced, which promises to offer players an unforgettable experience. Creative Assembly, which already has a studio in Sofia, Bulgaria, is wholly owned by Sega.
In addition to supporting the company's headquarters, the new studio will also house a team dedicated to developing tools, workflows and development experiences to improve the quality of projects. The studio will be led by Giselle Stewart, a 27-year veteran of the video game industry, who has worked at Reflections, the Newcastle studio responsible for Destruction Derby and Driver, acquired by Ubisoft, and also at Ubisoft itself, where she served as director of UK corporate affairs.
In a statement, Stewart said starting a new development studio with the support and insights of Creative Assembly is extremely exciting. She said the new studio is embracing flexibility, rapid iteration and cross-location collaboration to create job opportunities in the Northeast and broaden the company's culture and values. The studio is also expanding its award-winning outreach program, the Legacy Project, to support excellence in industry education in the region.
Last year, Creative Assembly announced Hyenas, a multiplayer-focused first-person shooter. In addition, Sofia's studio is working on a new action game that will be released alongside Total War, Hyenas and another project not yet announced.
