Watch the first teaser trailer for Tomb Raider Reloaded

Lara Croft has been missing since 2018’s Shadow of the Tomb Raider, but it looks like the heroine is back in action. Today, Square Enix revealed a short teaser trailer for the next game in the series: Tomb Raider Reloaded. This looks like a much more cute and fantastical take on the franchise, with dinosaurs and golems showing up to menace Lara.

Reloaded is being developed by Emerald City Games (G.I. Joe: War on Cobra) and Square Enix London’s mobile team. So far, the announcement is light on details — we’re not 100% sure how the game will control, or where Lara’s adventures will take her. But it is nice to see Lara back in her trademark shorts and tank top. Fans who were hoping for a more light-hearted take on the franchise after the grim and gritty feel of the Tomb Raider reboot franchise should be happy, however. Lara will be back to fighting off giant spiders and dodging arrow traps, and there’s even a scary T-Rex to look forward to.

Square Enix describes Tomb Raider Reloaded as “a free to play action arcade game.” Lara has previously appeared on mobile devices in puzzle game Lara Croft Go and action-runner game Tomb Raider: Relic Run.
