Call of Duty updates RICOCHET anti-cheat tool

In the run-up to Modern Warfare 2 and Warzone 2 Season 3, Call of Duty's anti-cheat tool, RICOCHET, has received an important update. The system is now able to detect malicious third-party hardware in all modes of the game. While RICOCHET has proven effective at detecting and blocking cheaters, players have been critical of its tolerance for the use of third-party hardware such as Cronus, which has led to a significant increase in cheaters across all platforms, particularly on PS4 and PS5.

Infinity Ward has responded to these concerns with the release of a new replay investigation tool and an update that enables the detection of third-party hardware devices that players can use to gain unfair gameplay advantages. Players caught using these devices will receive a warning and, if they continue to use them, will be banned from all Call of Duty titles. In addition, RICOCHET can now adjust the skill ratings of players who have frequently played with banned cheating accounts to restore their unfair gains.

The new investigation process also allows RICOCHET to collect more game data to identify cheating behavior by automatically collecting game data for the highest level of multiplayer play and saving it for possible investigation. A complete overview of all the new changes to Call of Duty's anti-cheating system can be found on the official website.
