Bungie responds to layoffs and player dissatisfaction in message to fans
Bungie, the studio responsible for Destiny 2, recently faced mass layoffs and reports of delays in the expansion "The Final Shape". Instead of their usual weekly announcement, the development team opted for a candid message to players, acknowledging the community's dissatisfaction with the state of the game.

Bungie's note addressed the layoffs, describing the separation of about 100 employees as a difficult decision. The sharp drop in the number of Destiny 2 players was cited as the reason behind these layoffs, according to a Bloomberg report.

The company emphasized the importance of acknowledging player concerns and pledged to restore the community's trust.

"To us the path forward is clear: We need to make The Final Shape an unforgettable Destiny experience. We want to build something that will be regarded alongside the best games we’ve ever made – a fitting culmination that honors the journey we’ve been on together for the past ten years. Forsaken, The Witch Queen, and The Taken King – these are the standard bearers we aim to live up to."

The message did not address the state of the "Marathon" shooting game, revealed earlier this year, which apparently has been delayed until 2025. Fans are now eagerly awaiting more information about what the future holds for Destiny 2.
