Bethesda surprised players by releasing a new update for Doom Eternal that removed the anti-tampering technology Denuvo from the game. Doom Eternal was launched in March 2020, and after three years, Denuvo has been taken out of the game.
Doom Eternal has undergone some improvements and adjustments since its release, including the addition of Ray Tracing effects in June 2021. However, these Ray Tracing effects didn't bring significant revisions to the game's lighting system; instead, they were used to enhance reflections in the environment.
The good news is that the game's performance on PC is excellent, allowing many players to enjoy these reflections at high frame rates. In addition to Bethesda, other companies like Warner Bros, Capcom, Bandai Namco, and Square Enix have also chosen to remove Denuvo from some of their older games.
Square Enix removed Denuvo from titles such as The Diofield Chronicle, VALKYRIE ELYSIUM, TRIANGLE STRATEGY, and Forspoken, as well as Octopath Traveler and its sequel.
Capcom did the same with Monster Hunter Stories 2: Wings of Ruin and Resident Evil Village, while Warner Bros removed Denuvo from Mortal Kombat 11.
Bandai Namco also joined in by removing Denuvo from Tekken 7 and NARUTO TO BORUTO: SHINOBI STRIKER.
These changes indicate a growing trend in the gaming industry regarding the removal of Denuvo from older titles.
