FIFA officially launched its first mobile game after the end of its years partnership with Electronic Arts.
Al League: FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022 is a casual football game that brings together two teams with four players each, each of which is made up of cartoon figures with highly customizable features.
Developed by the studio Altered State Machine, the game differs by not giving players direct control over the characters on the field, but allowing players to act as technicians, defining the general characteristics of their creatures.
Each character has their own weaknesses and strengths, which must be combined with those present in their teammates. AI League is now available for free on supported Android devices, although it is still in the Beta stage of development. An iOS version is also being prepared by Altered State Machine, but does not yet have an official release date.
This release forms part of a series of Web 3.0-related initiatives that FIFA announced in November 2022, including projects based on the metaverse and a new social card game with both collectible and casual features.
FIFA claims that the series will continue to be released under the same name, but under the command of other companies, and new partnerships are already being evaluated and negotiated.
